Airlines Getting Strict with Carry-ons

Current airlines that have been charging an extra fee for luggage now plan on keeping a closer eye on all carry-on bags to ensure they are not too big.

The airlines say the new carry-on policy came down from the Federal Aviation Administration and they need to make sure to keep people from carrying on heavy bags onto planes to avoid fees. They say too many big bags would overload the overhead bins and force them to delay takeoffs while they checked excess luggage.

As a consequence of this, travelers who are used to boarding with a large roller case might end up handing $25 to an airline employee before they clear security. One more fee to look forward to unless you use a smaller carry-on for your next vacation.

It’s all in the Promotion

With hotels and car rental agenices dealing with less business since the increase of prices for Hawaii vacations and lack of travelers due to Aloha and ATA going out of business, they’ve been trying to come out with promotions to lure visitors. Some of the hotels in Hawaii are offering cheaper rates that include food packages hoping to not only bring in the mainland travelers but also the locals. Also I’ve seen and heard that a lot of hotels and car rental agencies are contacting wholesalers and giving them even lower specials to help bring them business. So if you can get by the high airfare prices to Hawaii, you’re more than likely to find great deals on a car rental and hotel in Hawaii.

Best Time to travel to Hawaii

The Los Angeles Time has a great article about when to take your Hawaii vacations. Here is an insert from the article:

Climate–Because Hawaii lies at the edge of the tropical zone, it technically has only two seasons, both of them warm. There’s a dry season that corresponds to summer (Apr-Oct), and a rainy season in winter (Nov-Mar). It rains every day somewhere in the islands any time of the year, but the rainy season sometimes brings enough gray weather to spoil your tanning opportunities. Fortunately, it seldom rains in one spot for more than 3 days straight.”
