Current airlines that have been charging an extra fee for luggage now plan on keeping a closer eye on all carry-on bags to ensure they are not too big.
The airlines say the new carry-on policy came down from the Federal Aviation Administration and they need to make sure to keep people from carrying on heavy bags onto planes to avoid fees. They say too many big bags would overload the overhead bins and force them to delay takeoffs while they checked excess luggage.
As a consequence of this, travelers who are used to boarding with a large roller case might end up handing $25 to an airline employee before they clear security. One more fee to look forward to unless you use a smaller carry-on for your next vacation.
